Defiance: An Essential of Jewish Identity

We are sure to be entertained and educated by the stories of Biblical women who dare, and Biblical men who ask provocative questions. An undercurrent of defiance runs through Eve's early actions, Job's questioning of God, and continues throughout Jewish history. Our strength, our moxie, our faith – influence who we are today, and perhaps more importantly -- how we transmit those qualities to our children.
This year, WHC’s “Why Be Jewish?” initiative seeks to explore various facets of our Jewish identity. Ms. Rosenblatt’s lecture will enlighten this search, as she shares her expertise in Biblical literature and her insights into the psychological truths of family dynamics.
Ms. Rosenblatt is a gifted psychotherapist, author, speaker and teacher of Torah. Her weekly Bible classes have included a seminar on Capitol Hill for U.S. Senators from both sides of the aisle. Her roundtable discussions in Washington and New York have attracted a prestigious array of journalists, Wall Street executives, attorneys and scholars. She is a participant in the Bill Moyers’ P.B.S series, Genesis: A Living Conversation and has appeared on numerous T.V and radio shows around the country. She earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. in the mid-seventies and began a private psychotherapy practice specializing in individual and marital counseling.
We, at WHC, have been privileged to hear her lecture and teach on numerous occasions, and she is always engaging and thought-provoking. We hope you will join us for this lecture, which is free and open to the public.
